MANILA, Philippines โ The new majority senators re-elected as Senate secretary on Wednesday Renato โReyโ Bantug Jr., while Police Maj. Gen. Alfred Sotto Corpus replaced Ma O. Aplasca as the Senate sergeant-at-arms. Replacing Jose Luis Montales, Bantug previously served as the Senate secretary from 2022 until early 2026 and was even honored through a Senate resolution before his initial retirement. He first entered the Senate as a staffer of then-Sen. Franklin Drilon in 1995, and then he eventually became the latterโs chief of staff in the 16th Congress.
