TACLOBAN CITY— Eastern Samar Gov. Ralph Vincent Evardone has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former governor Clotilde Japzon-Salazar, the province’s first woman chief executive, who died on May 9 at the age of 94. In an official statement, Evardone extended condolences to Salazar’s family, fondly known as “Nanay Tindeng,” and described her as a trailblazing leader whose life was marked by public service and dedication to the Estehanon people. “It is with deep sadness that I join the people of Eastern Samar in mourning the passing of former Governor Clotilde Japzon-Salazar,” Evardone said, conveying the provincial government’s condolences.
