ILOILO CITY — Several parts of the Visayas continued to experience “danger” and “extreme caution” heat index levels on Saturday, with the state weather bureau warning that intense heat could persist throughout the weekend and until Monday. According to the five-day computed heat index and the two-day forecast issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) at 5 p.m. on Saturday, several areas in Eastern Visayas experienced among the country’s highest heat index readings, with Borongan, Eastern Samar reaching 45°C on Friday—classified under the “danger” category.
