MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-eight areas across the country are forecast to reach “danger” level heat indices on Monday, May 11, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said. Heat index, which refers to the heat the body feels when air temperature and humidity are combined, is automatically categorized as “danger” level once it ranges between 42°C and 51°C. Indices at this level carry increased risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which could then lead to heat stroke, according to Pagasa.
