Ombudsman files charges vs Discayas over P53.9-M Bulacan project

MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Ombudsman on Thursday filed graft and malversation charges against against contractor couple Pacifico “Curlee” and Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya as well as Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials over alleged anomalies in a flood control project in Bulacan worth P53.9 million. The Ombudsman filed the charges in the Regional Trial Court in Malolos, Bulacan instead of Sandiganbayan since the salary grade of the public officials involved falls within the jurisdiction of the trial courts.
