MANILA, Philippines–The Senate on Monday granted Philippine citizenship to Gilas Pilipinas prospects Maodo Malick Diouf and Elizabeth Means, although some lawmakers questioned the latter’s absence during the plenary approval. While 20 senators unanimously voted to approve Diouf’s application, only 17 voted in favor of Means’ petition, two were against it while one abstained from voting. Sen. Jinggoy Estrada said he abstained from voting because Means was a no-show in the Senate, unlike Diouf, who was at the visitor’s gallery in the session hall. “If she is really interested in acquiring Philippine citizenship, she should be present here at the gallery […]...
