MANILA, Philippines — The Embassy of Ukraine in this country on Friday denied claims from Russia that Filipino fighters are being recruited on Kyiv’s side in its four-year fight to defeat Moscow’s invasion. According to the Russian state-owned news agency Tass, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said “US representatives” have recruited Filipinos to fight in the Ukrainian armed forces. “Preference is given to former employees of the Philippine police and security agencies and retired military personnel,” Zakharova was quoted by Tass as saying in a report on Thursday, Nov. 27.
